Northeast Yard

Before the Big Pine Trees Came Down

So, this was the side yard in Cranford, NJ. I never grew any organic Ag on this side of the yard while the big pine trees were there. There was limited sun on this side of the yard. Only morning sun. I did grow beneficial plants to host pollinators, and to provide habitat, just not any food during that life-stage of the property. After the big pines came down, I did apply soil fertility to grow food, and put in an entire perennial fruit tree, nut trees, and berries on the 1/9 of an acre. Food typically requires a minimum of 6-8 hours of sun, with 10-12 being better. The other side of the yard is where I put the annual vegetable and herb garden.
